Went to the reptile expo in San Jose with a friend. So this guy there:
Would have loved to have taken this guy home with me. Such a big cutie.

Level Prototype
This is a project I worked on last semester. I took the ideas of the zombie board game and had to turn it into a game level. With a separate team we reconstructed the zombie board game with different game play, mechanics, and board design. This new design we took ideas from the Clue board game and had the player move from various college campus buildings, and their objective was to escape the campus grounds. Once done we were to translate the board game into a level. I used Sketch Up to make the buildings below, along with place holders to represent enemy zombies, blocked/locked doors, weapons and health items.
After I had constructed my builds I had to put them together into Unity. With all the buildings in place I created a little path way from one building to the next to have the player travel to a set destination to meet his goals.
After the player has met the objectives in all three buildings he is ready to move on to the next part of the campus. A very basic set up and prototype level. From here I'm looking forward to building more polished buildings and give them better floor plans.
The first building is dormitories. Being a horror zombie game I kept thinking about the apartments to the Silent Hill games. |
The top floors of the dorms are connected by a bridge. The view will give the player hint of how ruined his campus is. |
Here in the library I made a simple maze the player must navigate to find a key item to progress to the next level. |

Beginning Board Game
Hello Everyone,
Thought I would kick things off by displaying one of my first projects under game design. Over the past semester my team and I worked on creating a board game. This entailed collaborating ideas and game mechanics, rules, layout of our board, game pieces involved, all the materials you see in board games today. We came up with doing a zombie survival board displayed down below.
It took a deal of time to come up with the final design. Rules and objectives were changing and being play tested by our fellow students allowing us to see which game mechanics worked and which didn't. Our team worked on having this board as our final design. Players would roll a die and move around the board collecting check point flags. Each panel represent the player encountering a zombie they had to overcome, chance cards that may benefit or disadvantage the player, and traps. Players had weapons they could use to defend against zombies and points to purchase weapons or flee from zombies.
That's the basics of our board game. I had a lot of fun working out the mechanics and playability of the game. I may get a group of friends together to try and make another board game. Hopefully one more refined.
